Portland is located western on oregon's north border and is the largest and most populated city in oregon of over 600,000 people.
It began as a settlement in 1843. It started as a rest stop during travel for traders and settlers heading between Oregon city and Fort Vancouver. It's home to a few land marks like St.Johns Bridge, Benson Bridge, The Grotto, and the Pioneer Courthouse.
Portland was founded two men named Asa Lovejoy and Francis Pettygrove. A neat fact about it is that the name of the city was chosen from a coin toss with one side being Portland and the other being Boston. Despite winning the flip Francis sold almost all of his half of the land to focus on the California Gold Rush.
